Hello from Yardley, Pennsylvania, where we’re visiting my parents for a few days.
A common appearance on the lawns here where I grew up are “gum balls” as they are commonly known: the spiky seed pods of the sweet gum tree. They may hurt to step on barefoot but they’re also small reminders of many happy days running around the yard.
Several sweetgums were cut down at the house across the street this morning, so let’s consider this recording a farewell to those trees.
