Hi.
You know when something occurs to you but then you immediately forget what it was and the thought is just gone? I feel like with this piece of music I’ve found a temporarily loophole against the frustration that this causes. I forgot the spark of an idea but have used the absence of the spark to kindle something.
Today’s piece contains the sound of my voice for a change (speaking, not singing).
I recorded a simple anecdote and set it to a little tune that I happened to be toying around with recently. The point was to give life to an idea (the one I describe in the recording), although I can’t remember what it was. In other words, to do something with the idea of an idea.
I used a Wurlitzer sound to play the music and then edited in some echo and reverb, mostly over my voice.
I think this is yet another good next step in my musical journey here on Substack: having to listen to my own voice and then share it in this form.
I haven’t written many actual lyrics that I’d like to sing in my music but I do have some vague thoughts about this and can only assume you’ll be hearing me sing at some point if I’m able to keep the momentum going with Notes Unfolding.
In the future.
Until next time, have a great week.
